Q: How do I get the updated database into the handheld and in the form to select it?  In other words, where do I put it and what format should it be in so that Travel-i can spot it and use it?
A: With Travel-i Solo/TT there is a utility which converts the OV2 format that the PocketGPS camera database is stored in, to the GNS format which Travel-i requires. Copy this file onto the device (in theory anywhere, but I suggest \program files\end2end\Travel-iPro) then restart Travel-i and select the database in the Setup - General page.

Tip! As Ov2 doesn’t have the speeds in the database, you can update these by pressing one of the speed buttons when you are in ‘the zone’

QI have an iPaq 4150 with Navman 4410 SmartST navigation software. I would like to be able to run SmartST and Travel-i at the same time, sharing the Bluetooth GPS receiver. Is this possible?
A. My Suggestion is to try a product called GPSGATE which allows multiple applications to access the GPS simultaneously. They do a 15 day trial version, available here: http://franson.biz/gpsgate/

Q.  I have a Mitac Mio 168 with Mio-map software. Can I use
travel-i with it? Can I run the Mio-map software with travel-i in the
background?

A.  Yes, you can. See above.

Q.  I am trying to open a CSV file in Travel-iPro without success; the message is 'Not enough fields in record, please try again'.
I checked the fields as in the provided gns file and it seems all right, namely:
Label; Lat; Lon; Speed; Time.
Can you help me?

A.  You need to separate the parameters with commas, not semicolons. The label also needs to have quotation marks around it, e.g.
"camera 1", 52.123, 0.578, 96, "16:45"
This format should open directly into Excel. You will also need to remove the headings line.

Q.  Is Travel-i a stand alone product that uses a database of camera locations, and where would I get the database and updates from? Could I use the PocketGPS database or does it rely totally on your database?
Is there an
annual maintenance/database access cost?
A.  You can use any Database stored in the TomTom OV2 or csv format. We currently use the PocketGPS database as a starting point for the product, which is also freely available from www.pocketgps.co.uk.

This can be added to by yourself, using the camera capture facility. Speeds can also be logged against cameras as you pass them. To use the Database tools, however, you’ll need to purchase the Solo or TT version.

QWhile trying to merge a gns file with another (tools/merge), it just overwrites the data of the original file; am I doing things wrong?
A.  The merged data is in Memory. If you want to save it, use 'save as' and
give it a different name.
The merge function removes all duplicate records (as well as joining
together), or cameras that are close to each other.

QI Have A Medion device running CE v4.2. Can i run Travel-iLE on it?
A.  Yes you can, but you have to run a slightly different version of travel-iLE. Use the following link to download a zip file containing the files you need. Use the normal install then replace the exe with the one contained in this zip file. Copy the DLL files to the Windows directory on the device, if they already exist then don't bother to overwrite them.
